She was born in Taipei, Taiwan but moved to Houston, Texas when she was three, and moved to Los Angeles, California in 2003. Chen graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theater from the University of Texas in Austin. As a youth, she participated in drill team, soccer, choir, cheerleading, and was on the swim team. She is 5′ 6″.

During her senior year of high school, Chen’s choir teacher encouraged her to audition for the school’s annual musical, and landed the role of Connie Wong in their production of A Chorus Line. Inspired, she entered the theater program at The University of Texas at Austin, which helped her land her first job as a featured extra, playing the role of Miss New Hampshire in Miss Congeniality. From there, Chen obtained a role as a cheerleader in the 2002 film, The New Guy, and played Carissa in the 2003 film, Sexless, which won the Audience and Narrative Feature awards at Austin’s South By Southwest film festival. After relocating to Los Angeles, she shot six commercials for the Christmas Carolers campaign with Old Navy. After, Chen secured her first television series appearance as a sushi restaurant waitress on an episode of Without A Trace, while ironically, she worked as a server at a sushi restaurant in real life. After a recurring role in Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and appearances on both Ghost Whisperer, and Numb3rs alongside Navi Rawat, she garnered a key role on the series Law & Order which helped propel her notoriety. Some of Chen’s later works include Royal Pains, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Californication, American Horror Story: Asylum, Grey’s Anatomy, Bones, Parenthood, Grimm, Castle, and Backstrom. On August 7, 2014, she appeared in the inaugural episode of Garfunkel and Oates, entitled The Fadeaway.

Why we think she’s hot:

What oh what is the appeal of The Chen? Sure, she’s gorgeous, but there’s a certain gleam in her eye that subtly screams of dry wit, and gives her the uncanny ability to lure smiles and laughter out of others using nothing but a straight face– probably better than anyone in the industry. So it goes without saying that this is the appeal of Camille Chen, and a superpower she clearly employs during a great deal of her commercial work. Which also single handedly explains why so many people find those said advertisements she appears in, so endearing. Frankly, we love catching her in commercials so much that we call it Chenspotting, and admit it folks… you’d have given her the ottoman too.
