Smartasses Magazine Top 100 - Female EmpowermentCarly Foulkes Bio – Smartasses Magazine Carly Foulkes (born August 4, 1988) is a Canadian fashion model, photographer and actress. Her parents are both British, and she has two sisters, Kimmy and Angie. Foulkes spent summers in England while growing up, but was was raised in Toronto, Canada where she attended Loretto Abbey. After high school, she moved to New York City to pursue her career in fashion modeling and acting. Foulkes is represented by Modelwerk and Sutherland Models.

Foulkes began modeling in the Toronto area at the age of thirteen. After high school, she moved to New York to model for agents and subsequently found modelling work in Singapore and Europe. Among others, Foulkes has done advertisements for Ralph Lauren, Abercrombie & Fitch, Artistry Cosmetics, Express, Gilly Hicks, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Nieman Marcus, and Tommy Hilfiger. She is best known for replacing Catherine Zeta Jones in 2010 as the spokesperson for T-Mobile, wearing a pink summer dress in commercials designed to spoof the Justin Long Get A Mac Apple computer commercials of the same genre. Although Foulkes was originally only expected to perform in two or three commercials, as of December 2011 she had produced over a dozen. Foulkes’ last new commercial was posted to YouTube on February 25, 2013, and on October 10, 2013, T-Mobile announced that they had signed a multi-year contract with Shakira as a corporate spokesperson. In March 2013, Foulkes was described as “one of the most recognizable brand spokespeople” by Business Insider journalist Laura Stampler, even after converting from a pink dress wardrobe to a bad girl and biker chick image.

In 2011 Foulkes was cast as Retro Girl in the FX TV series Powers. She has also appeared in the short films, The Blanket, Halfway Somewhere Else, Running On Empty and Momentary.

A Los Angeles Times writer once described Foulkes as Anne Hathaway meets Kim Basinger and noted that, as of early 2011, she was still often confused with fellow Canadian Jessica Paré. She has also been described as a “picture-perfect brunette”. Foulkes claims to be a video game junkie and adept at skateboarding. Despite the association with pink dresses due to the T-Mobile ad campaign, she also claims not to wear pink in her personal wardrobe, and in fact used to wear a lot of black and leather cuffs in high school.

Why we think she’s hot:

With a face that rivals that of 1990′s supermodel Christy Turlington, Carly Foulkes boasts a beautiful balance of both cute and smokey, and we liked her so much… we even created the very first Carly Foulkes Fan Page on the net. So, forgive us if we pat ourselves on the back a bit, as just like One Tree Hill’s Jana Kramer, who we spotlighted back in 2008 when it impossible to find even ten photos of her online, Carly is yet another who has exploded onto your image search-engine, after we shined a little light her way. Go team.
