Smartasses Magazine - Top 100 Sexiest Women AliveTaryne Mowatt Bio – Taryne Lee Mowatt (born September 12, 1986) is a former All-American pitcher for the University of Arizona softball team. Mowatt prepped at Santiago High School in Corona, Calif. She was named Los Angeles Times Player of the Year in 2004, and was a two-time CIF Player of the Year and high school All-American in 2003 and 2004. She was a key member of Arizona’s back-to-back NCAA championship teams in 2006 and 2007, giving them their seventh and eighth overall national softball titles. Mowatt graduated from Arizona in 2009 with a degree in communications.

As a 2007 junior, Mowatt set four Women’s College World Series records that landed her the WCWS Most Outstanding Player award. In eight complete games, Mowatt threw 60 innings for six victories and 76 strikeouts in a seven-day span. In total, Mowatt pitched 27 games with double digit strikeouts, including three no hitters, 42 wins with 522 strikeouts, and was victorious in her bid for the national title. At the end of 2007, Mowatt was named to the All-Pac10 first team and earned All-American second team recognition. For her performance at the WCWS, Mowatt received the ESPY for Best Female Athlete and Best Female College Athlete. After the completion of her career at the University of Arizona, Mowatt left with eight places in six different categories on Arizona’s record lists. During that 2007 campaign, Mowatt set the Arizona single-season record for strikeouts (522), innings pitched (370.0) and victories (42). For her career, Mowatt finished second in strikeouts (1,267), second in innings pitched (877.2) and seventh in career victories (100). She also finished her collegiate career with 40 shutouts. In her senior season in 2008, Mowatt also tied Hollowell’s single game strikeout record at Arizona by fanning 20 (career high) on March 1, 2008 against Angela Tincher and the Virginia Tech Hokies. In that same game, Mowatt and Tincher set a new NCAA Division I record for combined strikeouts at 41.

In 2009, Mowatt was drafted sixth overall, by the NPF Washington Glory with fellow Arizona battery, Callista Balko. In a twist of irony, in 2010, Mowatt went on to replace Angela Tincher on the Akron Racers NPF roster. She was traded to the Chicago Bandits in November 2010 and completed the 2011 season with them. In 2012 Mowatt joined the California Baptist University Lancers as an assistant softball coach. In 2013 rejoined the NPF when she signed with the NY-NJ Comets.

Why we think she’s hot:

With respect to quarterbacking for the Dallas Cowboys, one might argue that there simply is no greater marquee position in all of athletics, than being the starting pitcher for the Arizona Wildcats multi-time National Championship program… and that is exactly what Taryne Mowatt is most famous for. If her platinum blonde hair and killer smile aren’t enough, let’s just say she looks so good in a softball uniform that, not unlike leadoffs, it should be illegal, especially when she wears her signature, sequin trimmed sparkle headbands, that she alone made oh so famous.
